We met in 2019 as Speech Language Pathologist Assistants, being trained as Reading Coach Trainers. After our training, we decided to make our skills more widely available to the special education community. We knew that literacy skills had suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. We also knew that this was a literacy need that we could meet.

Fast forward to 2022, Capable Readers Literacy Services was born! To date, we have further expanded our knowledge and expertise by completing multiple trainings in reading programs that align with the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy approach. We continue to develop a variety of programs and networking opportunities that benefit learners of all ages to learn how to read and connect through community.

In 2023, we made the decision to open our doors to all learners, regardless of ability or diagnosis. We would love to chat with you about how we can support your learner in their literacy journey.

Reading Simplified Academy provides a science of reading based approach to address wide gaps in reading skills. Using evidence-based strategies, this program appeals to neurotypical and neurodivergent learners alike.

This streamlined approach utilizes only a handful of decoding strategies to teach learners how to become lifelong readers. For teachers and caregivers that are interested in teaching their learners how to read, this program offers self-directed courses that allow you to become a certified tutor.

Our reading coaches are certified reading simplified tutors for this program.

All About Spelling/Reading

All About Spelling is an open-and-go program that teaches spelling in the most effective way possible. This award-winning seven-level program provides complete and comprehensive instruction using the Orton-Gillingham approach.

All About Reading is a program that provides research-based and multisensory instruction that covers phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Our reading coaches often use this program to teach spelling alongside other reading programs.
